Prison mail... Its a thing. Unfortunately, if and when our family, friends, or loved ones get caught on the wrong side of the law, this is the most affordable and personal way of communicating through those high fences and thick walls. The letters are intense with love, hate, regret, and other raw emotions. This issue of Serious Business Mag has reprinted piles of letters from about 20 years ago, collected from the trash bins of San Jose's lock up. Personal names have been censored but the desperation is all laid out for history to hold. NOT SAFE FOR WORK or for kids...

The printing and production is quality, with full magazine sized reproductions of letters that are unwrinkled and/or assembled from ripped up pieces. The handwriting tells the story along with lipstick kisses and grimy smudge marks. This is a tough read, but well worth the unique archival quality of a historic aspect of the prison system. Get a copy and appreciate your freedom.
